Moonshine is a dice-rolling engine-building game in which players play simultaneously. Each round, each player uses the active player's dice roll to enhance the appeal of their speakeasy.
The goal of the game is to attract enough customers to reach 12 prestige points. When a player achieves this, the game ends, and the player with the highest score wins.
A game consists of a series of rounds, all of which play out in the same way: first, the active player rolls—and possibly rerolls—all the dice to which they have access to validate a pool of dice. Each player then uses the icons they have obtained as they wish. These icons represent forbidden resources prized by potential customers (each player has their own potential customers).
Satisfying a customer's specific needs allows them to enter their bar and thus benefit from their permanent bonus: prestige points, resource icons, access to other dice (blue and red dice), re-rolls, other potential customers, etc.
If a player is unwilling or unable to exploit the result of the dice, they are not blocked! They can either collect a Moon token to place on one of their cards to unlock a temporary bonus; or replace one of their potential customers with a new one.
The game also includes a variant with an asymmetrical start: each speakeasy thus has completely different abilities and temporary bonuses!
