The players act as mediums.
Together, in pairs, they mentally determine the Medium: the word that connects the words on their two cards, then try to say the same word at the same time!
You and your partners will have a hand of word cards. You will each play a card, then attempt to create a psychic connection together to find the word that connects them in some way.
The correct answer is the word your partners think of, so you'll have to think alike to find it!
