Description

Napping Agreements is a game for Year 6 students that focuses on the rules for agreeing adjectives as subject attributes and past participles used without an auxiliary verb or with the auxiliary verb "être." Players predict which character pawn will be the first to reach the only available hammock on a beach in Papua New Guinea and agree on past participles and subject attributes to move the Chics along their path.

Designed for 2 to 4 players, the game includes a game board and 60 sentence cards, each of which advances one of the three character pawns along its path. For each sentence, the player must correctly agree the past participle or the adjective attribute of the underlined subject, justifying their answer. A class-group variation is also available, in which players vote for the agreement they believe to be correct in each sentence read aloud. Throughout the game, players can refer to the cheat sheet, which presents the agreement rules:

of the adjective attribute of the subject with the subject when it follows the verb to be or another attributive verb;
past participles used without an auxiliary verb or with the auxiliary verb être;
past participles used with the auxiliary verb avoir (optional objective).
If the speaker wishes, he or she can add the sentence cards which target the optional objective, namely knowledge and application of the rules of agreement of past participles used with the auxiliary verb avoir.
