Description

Text Mosaic is a graded reading game for all primary school cycles in which players must reorder sections of texts by analyzing the order and coherence of the elements. Players must help a young girl reorder texts of various genres found in the attic of her grandmother who spent her life investigating strange phenomena. The game offers three levels of difficulty that allow the facilitator to adapt to the skill level of readers in all primary school cycles.

Designed for 1 to 4 players, the game includes 30 texts of various genres divided into 120 text cards (60 double-sided cards). It primarily targets macroprocesses and integration processes in reading by analyzing the coherence of texts, their structure and cohesion indices such as connectives and referents.

Suitable for individual or subgroup intervention, the game stimulates the ability to establish links between ideas in a text (macroprocess). In addition, the 30 texts of various genres allow for the analysis of indices of coherence and cohesion specific to each text genre.

The game also promotes the development of reading comprehension strategies. Analysis of text structure and cues of coherence and cohesion can be explicitly taught throughout the game, with the instructor gradually reducing the support provided to players.

The cooperative aspect of the game encourages the verbalization of the processes and strategies implemented to understand texts and their structure, thus contributing to the development of metacognitive reading skills.
