Description
3, 2, 1... Action! Conflicts are the backdrop of your daily life? Play the role of director and help your children resolve their conflicts by reconstructing the "movie" of situations. The Great Resolution: The Movie! is a tool designed to support children aged 5 to 9 (and parents!) in developing conflict resolution skills. It includes materials for resolving conflicts using a specific approach and materials to facilitate their resolution. The materials and approach are presented in detail in a companion guide for parents. A host of strategies are also proposed to prevent and manage conflicts in everyday life. Conflicts are a normal part of development and are somewhat of a necessary step in the acquisition of socialization skills. Quarrels make children experience strong emotions that sometimes limit their ability to consider the other person's point of view. They feel caught in a stalemate and in this context, it is often their lower brain that takes over. Children should be given the opportunity to resolve their conflicts independently, but only when they are capable of doing so. Younger children are more impulsive and find it difficult to put into words what is troubling them. Therefore, they need guidance most of the time. Older children can generally resolve their minor conflicts independently. However, when a situation is very difficult, both young and old need an adult (a wiser person) to rely on to reach a resolution. The Great Resolution: The Movie! is a tool designed to help children acquire the skills necessary for conflict resolution. Through the guidance model, and with the presence of an adult, children will gradually learn to use different conflict resolution strategies. Their experience and growing maturity will subsequently make them more adept at resolving their conflicts independently. When faced with a conflict, some children will even learn to play the role of mediator.
