Description
Shoeing a Clydesdale can be a very demanding task for the farrier. The shoes are not only extremely large, but also relatively heavy, weighing a good 2.5 kilos. This makes them four to five times heavier than the shoes of riding horses or thoroughbreds. Although Clydesdales are imposing and above all heavy, their movements are very elegant. They are known for walking with their beautiful white legs raised very high and lively. This is why they are not only used as draft horses, but are also often presented in parades or at shows.
