Chromatik

Chromatik is designed to help children ages 4 to 9 develop visuospatial and counting skills. The player must win skill cards by quickly identifying the most represented color on color cards. The three levels offered make it a progressive game that prepares children for learning mathematics while having fun. The speed challenge encourages players to analyze the colors present on the cards "in their heads." The game also leads them to consider how the colored areas are organized on the cards in order to determine the most present color(s). The game thus involves visual comparison and estimation skills, as well as different counting strategies. By playing, the child becomes increasingly adept at building a "mental image" of the area occupied by a color and at understanding how the space on the card is organized. For example, once they have grasped that a rectangle
of color is equivalent to two small squares of the same color, this knowledge can give him a boost in quickly estimating the area occupied by each color on the cards. The development of these cognitive skills will promote his learning of mathematics, in particular his understanding of number, geometry, measurement and fractions
