Description
The "Piecing Together" collection was created to offer people living with dementia, limited fine motor skills, or visual impairment a fun activity to enjoy alone or with a loved one. An estimated 850,000 people in the UK live with dementia, a condition that can be isolating for both the person living with it and their family, friends, or caregivers.
Our goal was to create a puzzle that would bring people together during these difficult times. We undertook extensive research to design this collection, including visiting care homes, connecting with Age UK centers, and teaming up with Zoe Wryko, consultant geriatrician and part of the expert team behind Channel 4's award-winning TV show, Old People's Home for 4 Year Olds.
The images in the puzzle were specifically chosen to evoke fond memories of years gone by, sparking conversations with loved ones and reminiscing about things that may have long been forgotten. The "In the Home" puzzle is a collage of images from the Mary Evans Picture Library and illustrations created by students at Reigate School of Art in Surrey.
Made in the UK, the puzzles are available in varying numbers of pieces to suit different skill levels. The large, easy-to-handle pieces are made from 100% recycled cardboard, the thickest available.
